With ADCoS a very efficient and powerful aeroelastic software package is available, which considers the interaction between the structural movement and the aerodynamic loads on basis of the finite element method. Developed and improved since 1995 in order to achieve the growing requirements in design of multi-megawatt wind energy plants.
With ADCoS it is possible to model wind energy generators on arbitrary tower and foundation structures like lattice towers or offshore wind energy foundations (i.e. tripods or jackets).
Non-linearities, i.e. the torsional dynamics of rotor blades or the non-linear stiffness behaviour of piles on sea ground are taken into account.
In co-operation with the Fraunhofer-Institute IWES in Bremerhaven an interface between ADCoS and ANSYS/ASAS is under development to achieve wave loads for structures of off-shore foundations.
